Top 5 Reasons Why I Will Buy Wii U

Buy Wii U
Slowly but steady more news is leaking through on the Wii U. With everything we know now I will buy Wii U on launch and here are five good reasons why you should buy Wii U too!

#5 – HD quality games on the Wii U

The original Wii not supporting High Definition was a real let down for many Nintendo fans. In the meanwhile they saw the competition putting out games with finger licking graphics for your HD television. Especially when you own multiple consoles and you go from a Wii game to a PS3 or XBOX 360 the difference is noticeable and it seems you jump back a whole generation with your console. In this day and age you can’t bring out a non-HD device anymore and Nintendo did the right thing in equipping the Wii U with HD quality. The Zelda tech demo was beautiful and will have people running to the store to buy Wii U when it comes out.

#4 – Buy Wii U and use your current controllers and games

A strong point with the Nintendo Wii and the Nintendo Wii U is that everything is backwards compatible. Old Nintendo Gamecube games can be played on the Wii console and current Wii games can still be played when you buy Wii U. What’s even greater is that your current (expensive!) Wiimotes with the MotionPlus attachment are still used on the Wii U in conjunction with the shiny new controller. So when you buy Wii U and want to play with multiple friends there’s no need to shell out an additional amount for extra controllers as you already have these in your house.

#3 – Nintendo is the only one putting out a new console with the Wii U

Let’s make it clear. I’m growing tired of the current generation of home consoles and as a video game addict I embrace everything new coming out. Since Sony and Microsoft didn’t reveal anything about a new home console yet I’m glad Nintendo took the lead in putting out a home console first in 2012 with their Wii U. They claim that the Wii U will not drastically outperform the PS3 and XBOX 360 in terms of processing power, but it doesn’t really matter when you’re the only one with a new home console at the time of release. Not trying to blow your competition out the water will also allow for a moderately priced console unit at launch which will have more people buy Wii U.

#2 – Proper third party support for the Wii U

At the E3 it showed that third party support for a new console has become a real delicate matter for Nintendo. After the video presentation of the Wii U Nintendo showed interviews with several third party developers who expressed their excitement towards the Wii U and its controller in particular. The probable launch games were mentioned after that, with EA fully backing up the new console as stated by their representative on the E3 stage. Furthermore THQ, Ubisoft, Warner Bros, 5th Cell, Namco Bandai, Irrational Games and Disney will definitely be on board developing for the Wii U. In order for people to buy Wii U, third party support should be solid and it seems Nintendo are working hard at it.

#1 – The Wii U game controller

I would buy Wii U for this thing alone I swear. It’s not for nothing that Nintendo almost didn’t showcase the console unit itself as the new tablet controller is the centerpiece of this new gaming experience. The tech demo’s on the E3 showed a tiny bit of its potential, but I’m sure people will get more excited when developers become familiar with developing games for this unit and make use of its full potential. And it’s awesome that I can just take the controller around the house while my console is streaming the game on its touchscreen. Unfortunately, when you buy Wii U you only get one of these and it’s not possible to buy an additional one.

So there you have it. These are my current top five reasons to buy Wii U next year. I’m sure many more reasons can be added to these list. Keep checking here for more updates.

Did E3 Excite You To Buy Wii U At Launch?

The whole gaming world marked June 7th down as the date to watch the Nintendo E3 keynote as there was a lot to showcase. Besides celebrating the 25th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda Nintendo would present to the public their next generation home console. And as the tension built up that day in the conference hall, Nintendo finally showcased the new console (or rather its revolutionary controller), the Wii U. The first glance at the possibilities of this new home console probably is enough for most fans to buy Wii U at launch in 2012.

‘Wheee-uuu?’, you could probably hear a lot of people think when the new Nintendo console name was finally unveiled. Yes, Wii U. As the original Wii caters mostly to the casual gamer, the new console release will be more about ‘You’, both the casual (We) and hardcore gamer (You), therefore Wii U. A gaming experience that will satisfy everyone according to Nintendo. Now why should hardcore gamers buy Wii U then?

Buy Wii UNintendo only showed off the Wii U controller, as it will turn out to be the centerpiece of the new gaming experience. A large touchscreen tablet controller that has regular buttons and directional controls on its side will function not only as a mere control device plus map or inventory screen, but the screen will serve as a seperate view for the game you’re playing, and can have the full game view streamed on it if you wish to take it in your bed for example. It sports a microphone, camera, gyroscope and accelerometer and is considered the swiss-army knife of game controllers according to one of the game designers. All in all, Nintendo seems to have revolutionized gaming controls once again. The presentation video below showcased tech demos with numerous in-game uses for the touchscreen controller which hopefully will be just the tip of the iceberg. Which such creative freedom it’s up to game developers to fully utilize the potential of the new Wii U controller.

Whether or not a hardcore gamer will buy Wii U always stands or falls with the third party developers supporting the new console with future game releases and it seems this time Nintendo got this covered with their Wii U with more developers on board than before. Surely the fact that the console displays games in HD (it supports 1080p graphics) is a factor in this, as unlike the current Wii, PS3 and XBOX 360 have been reaping the fruits of high definition output for a few years now. The games that were announced for the Wii U launch are FIFA 12, Ninja Gaiden 3, Tekken, Darksiders II, Dirt, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Ghost Recon Online, Metro Last Light, and Batman: Arkham City. Furthermore an EA representative came on stage to express that EA will support the new console for all their future releases. It will be exciting to see what new titles will be added to the Wii U line-up in the coming months.

The E3 show was just a first glance at what Nintendo will offer with their Wii U in 2012 but it still was the most exciting presentation of all the large game companies at the conference. Time will tell how much the Wii U will outperform the current competitors PS3 and XBOX 360 and when and how Microsoft and Sony will respond to Nintendo’s impressive new gaming system with new home console releases, no doubt that however a potential next console war will end, the big winners here are the hardcore gamers. Nintendo didn’t mention a specific release date for the Wii U yet other than 2012, but expect a spring or early summer release. Keep an eye on this blog for more information on how, when and where to preorder and buy the Wii U from Nintendo.
